This image shows a group of young raccoons (Procyon lotor).
Raccoons are highly intelligent and adaptable mammals native to North America. They are easily recognizable by their distinctive black “mask” around their eyes and their bushy tails with black rings. These nocturnal animals are curious and excellent problem solvers, using their dexterous front paws to explore their surroundings and find food.
The young raccoons in this image appear to be in a wildlife rehabilitation setting, possibly being cared for before they are released back into the wild. If you’re interested in volunteering with them, this would be a great opportunity to help orphaned or injured raccoons recover and prepare for life in their natural habitat!
