Update November 2021

I am looking for a vet or vet-nurse who wants to work hard, voluntarily and live in basic living conditions in a house with me, on the beautiful Caribean island, Mayreau, from Dec. 15th until January 15th, or longer. Preferably experience with working in the tropics and kitesurfing. 😃🐕🐈🐓🐾🌸🌺🐜🦟🐢🦋🏝

The volunteer exchange

We work hard to improve life for all the island animals and depend on volunteers. We would be delighted to hear from anyone who might be interested in volunteering. In exchange, we offer self-contained accommodation in a simple wooden house with lovely sea views.

We would also be very happy to hear from any dog-loving yachties and tourists who might be interested in helping with dog walks.

About MAW

We are dedicated to improving the lives of all mistreated neglected and abandoned animals on the small island of Mayreau.

MAW stands for Mayreau Animal Welfare – We are a Non-Profit organisation, dedicated to improving the lives of all neglected, mistreated and abandoned animals on the small island of Mayreau, Southern Grenadines, St Vincent & The Grenadines.

A small team of very energetic volunteers look after the welfare of all the island animals, including dogs, cats, goats, and sheep, as well as any wildlife in trouble. We rescue, rehabilitate, and provide necessary healthcare and medication, including parasite control, for all the island dogs. Many of the dogs are tied 24/7, and we have permission from some owners to walk these dogs on a daily basis. We encourage owners to have their dogs and cats sterilized, and we help to facilitate this. We try to promote the health and wellbeing of all the animals through action, example, and education.

What else can you do to help this organization

We would be extremely grateful for any assistance in terms of material supplies or financial donations so that we can continue to help the local population with their animals. We are always in need of veterinary supplies, as well as dog food, dog bowls, bedding (old towels/sheets), collars, leads, and toys.
