The European Green Capital Award is an initiative of the European Commission that recognises cities for strong environmental action and clear future plans. It looks at real results and long-term strategy, not only good intentions.
Cities are assessed on key themes such as air quality, water, waste and circular economy, biodiversity and green spaces, noise, climate action, and climate adaptation. The goal is to highlight practical examples that other cities can learn from.
Tallinn is strongly connected to the history of the award, and it later became European Green Capital 2023. If you are interested in sustainable travel, these cities can be great places to learn and visit.
