Community mission and lifestyle

We want to create meaningful connections with people from all over the world. Our vision is to encourage guests and volunteers to form genuine friendships that can last a lifetime. During your stay, you get a taste of the lively, almost sitcom-style life we live, make many new friends, explore Las Vegas with locals and join road trips to amazing nature spots.

Hosting many people requires a lot of work. We are looking for like-minded volunteers who fit into our lifestyle. In return you can enjoy an extended stay of several weeks and all the experiences that come with it.

Tasks and expectations

You help in different ways to make sure fellow travellers enjoy their time in Las Vegas. Tasks can include housekeeping, kitchen duties, general maintenance and sometimes organising excursions or road trips, or acting as a basic guide in the city.

Expect to be in a constant social environment, whether it is hanging out at home, playing games, sharing stories, going on trips with other travellers or visiting clubs. You will meet many people who are keen to share their culture, food and stories. This is great for social people, but not ideal if you need a lot of privacy or a quiet personal space.

Hours and days of help

Volunteers usually help around 4–5 hours per day, 5 days per week, with 2 days off. The exact amount can change a bit depending on how many guests are staying and what is planned that day. Some days may be a bit busier, others lighter.

Food and accommodation

Accommodation is free and breakfast is provided.

You receive two meals per day (usually breakfast and lunch) on the days you work.

Group meals happen regularly, but volunteers should be ready to contribute to or take care of their own dinner. On days off you cover your own food. When going out in the city or on adventures in nature, volunteers pay their own expenses. As locals we share tips on how to enjoy Las Vegas on a budget.

There is always some kind of sleeping surface available, such as beds, air mattresses or couches. Rooms are shared with whoever else is staying. People do not share beds unless they choose to. If you need a lot of privacy or a quiet space to escape to, this is probably not the right place for you.

Diet and nutrition

We are meat-lover, vegetarian and vegan-friendly. The household often follows a low-carb diet, but this is not required from volunteers.

No, we cannot provide visa support or invitation letters, but we can offer general information.

Free time

Las Vegas offers endless entertainment, shows, nightlife and food. Beyond the Strip, the city is a great base for visiting national parks like Grand Canyon, Death Valley and Zion on day or weekend trips. Nearby areas such as Red Rock Canyon, Valley of Fire, Mount Charleston and Lake Mead offer excellent hiking and rock climbing.

It is usually easy and relatively cheap to fly from Las Vegas to other US cities such as San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego or Salt Lake City if you want to travel further during or after your stay.

Language

English is the main language spoken in the house.

Geography and climate

Las Vegas sits in a desert valley surrounded by mountains and famous for its sunsets. Humidity is low and it is sunny most days of the year. Summers are extremely hot, usually 45–50°C (105–115°F). Spring and autumn are more comfortable and winters are cooler but usually without snow or ice. Nature is about a 30-minute drive away.

How to get here

The house is centrally located in Las Vegas, about five minutes from Harry Reid International Airport and less than 10 minutes from the Strip. Downtown is around 20 minutes away.

Long-distance buses arrive at the South Strip Terminal or the Strip itself, both about 10 minutes away. The city bus stops across the street and ridesharing apps are easy to use. There is first come, first served parking in front of the house.
