Rahnaward-e-Noor is a Private High School, which is registered in Ministry of education with grantee No: 594, and since April 2011 provides quality education service in Lal Wa Sarjangle district of Ghor province.

Rahnaward-e-Noor is a private School which provide a standard education service for Ghor pupils.

What’s the mission of your community?

It’s a private school providing education for all grades of students. We try to improve their English by having extra classes with foreign teachers.

  • Any time

  • 4-5 hours of help per day

  • 5 days per week – 2 days off
Note about the volunteer work and other expectations

We expect a volunteer to prepare the lessons based on the textbooks provided by the school. Run English courses in the afternoons, for students and teachers of the school as well as adults from the outside.

What type of accommodation can you provide?

Private Room

Diet – nutrition information

Local Afghan food: mostly rice, potatoes, some vegetables, lamb, chicken, beans, peas. Food high in carbohydrates. The volunteer can also cook his/her own food if preferred or be given some supplies such as cottage cheese or biscuits.

Fees transparency

Food and accommodation are free of charge.

VISA – could you provide Visa support/info/invitation letters?

Yes, we can help with Visa/invitation letters

Volunteers’ benefits:

Volunteers will have a unique opportunity to live in an authentic Afghan village, live like a local person, try the food and learn the culture of this country directly from its people. They will gain experience in teaching in difficult conditions (no modern school facilities) and teach students from different backgrounds and traditions.

What to do in the free time

There are many hills/mountains in the area which can be explored in the free time. Famous Afghan National Park Band-e-Amir is located 4 h drive from Lal. The famous site of former massive Buddha statues – Bamiyan is located 5 h drive from Lal.

Geography

Lal is located at the end of Hindu Kush Mountain range, so the altitude is still high – around 2800 meters above the sea level. The trees are limited. There are some rivers and grasslands around. The climate is dry. Very hot in summer and very cold in winter.

How to get to your site

The best option for a volunteer who doesn’t speak Persian is to take a flight from Kabul to Bamiyan (run by Kam Air). We will pick you up from Bamiyan and drive back to Lal.

Yes!

  1. Hi I saw your posting. I am a 19 year old girl doing a gap year right now. English is my first language and I am very good with children, having many younger cousins and a lot of babysitting experience. I would love the opportunity to come teach the children while learning about a different culture. Iโ€™m additionally very energetic and good at energizing others!
