Marine and Edouard definitely have a sense of adventure. This French couple set out to travel in South America with almost no money while producing a travel documentary. Before reaching Colombia they crossed the Atlantic Ocean by hitchhiking on different sailing boats, a journey that took them four months.

Once in South America they began working on several documentary projects. Through a series of videos and blog articles they share their daily life on the road, the joys and laughs of their trip, but also the challenges, fears and moments of doubt that are part of long term travel.

One trip, two goals

  • To collect a series of video testimonials that show the world is full of inspiring people, regardless of age, culture, gender or religion.
  • To share the reality of travelling with almost no money, from crossing the Atlantic on a sailboat to the everyday routine of hitchhiking through South America.

Here is one of their most inspiring interviews, with Yeison and Sandra, two long-term volunteers they met on the road in Colombia:

The “A Sense of Adventure” project

A Sense of Adventure is the name of Marine and Edouard’s project. It started as a long journey in South America with almost no money, collecting life stories from the people they met and highlighting the value of diversity. For them it is essential to move beyond fear and to stay open to cultural differences.

Over time the project has grown into a non-profit association that promotes art and adventure through different creative projects, including documentary films, exhibitions and events. Their website now features the South America series, the “World Stories” collection of portraits from around the world and newer projects such as the Pyrenean Backcountry documentary about life in a high mountain shelter and the impacts of climate change in the Pyrenees.

Travel and volunteering

Many of the people Marine and Edouard meet are “voluntourists”, travellers who combine volunteering and slow travel. Their stories show how work exchange, community projects and farm stays can make long journeys more meaningful and affordable.

What happened after South America?

Since their first long journey across the Atlantic and through South America, Marine and Edouard have turned A Sense of Adventure into a small non profit association based in France. The project has grown from a single trip into an ongoing series of documentary films, exhibitions and talks that use travel and adventure to open conversations about culture, resilience and the environment.

New films and projects

In recent years they have launched the Pyrenean Backcountry project, a documentary about a month spent in a high mountain refuge in the French Pyrenees, exploring freeriding, simple mountain life and the impacts of climate change on snow and glaciers. They continue to add episodes to their World Stories series, collecting portraits of people they meet on the road and sharing how travel, volunteering and community projects are changing lives around the world.

Screenings, workshops and online releases keep the project alive, so readers in 2025 and beyond can still follow their adventures and support new films through the official A Sense of Adventure website and social channels.
