Konojel, meaning “All Together” in Kaqchikel, is a grassroots non-profit organization based in San Marcos La Laguna, Guatemala.
Founded in 2011, its mission is to combat chronic malnutrition and systemic poverty while empowering the local indigenous community. Konojel runs programs that focus on nutrition, education, and employment. The Nutrition Program, its longest-running initiative, supports families with improved ingredients, workshops, and community meals. The Children’s Enrichment Program works with around 40 at-risk children daily, offering a safe and supportive environment for learning. Employment opportunities are fostered through the Sabor del Sol women’s cooperative, helping indigenous women develop micro businesses and access professional growth. Guided by respect, humility, and empathy, Konojel is run primarily by local managers with international partnerships providing support. Volunteers are welcome to contribute their skills, ideas, and energy to strengthen these programs and create a sustainable positive impact in the community.
