Advocacy work
What advocacy work means
Advocacy work focuses on defending rights, raising public awareness, and influencing policies that affect people’s lives. In the context of children and families, advocacy aims to make sure decisions are based on evidence, respect children’s rights, and protect vulnerable groups from harm, discrimination, or misuse of power.
Volunteer opportunities in advocacy
Advocacy volunteering rarely means solo campaigning. Most roles support research, documentation, communications, education, or community outreach. Volunteers may help analyse policies, prepare reports, manage content, translate materials, or support awareness campaigns.
Organisations working on children’s rights, family wellbeing, and social justice often welcome volunteers with writing, research, legal, or digital skills. Many opportunities are remote or part time, making them accessible even without a legal background.
