โIMPORTANT UPDATES – August 2021โ
After a military offensive that led to the rapid fall of many important cities in the Middle Eastern country, the Taliban took the capital of Afghanistan, Kabul, on Sunday 15 August 2021, ousting the previous government, imposing its authority on the nation and proclaiming the birth of an Emirate, in which an ’emir’, usually a military leader, heads the government.
The normal activities of the national Embassies in Kabul are temporarily suspended and it is therefore not possible to ensure adequate consular assistance. Please note that travel to Afghanistan for any reason is not advised.
Security is not guaranteed: there is a danger of heavy fighting, rocket attacks, mines, terrorist attacks, kidnappings and violent criminal acts, including rape and armed robbery.
With the withdrawal of NATO troops, the Taliban took control of the country in August 2021. The evolution of the situation is uncertain. High security risks exist throughout the country. Fighting and attacks can occur at any time and anywhere.

Volunteering opportunities in Afghanistanโฆ for independent travellers!
Some of these opportunities areย freeย (you receiveย free food and accommodation in exchange for voluntary work). Others might require a daily/monthly contribution fee to pay for the food and the accommodation. Remember that many areas in Afghanistan are still developing and volunteering canโt always be a โfreeโ thing.
Our website, Voluntouring, is not a touristic agency and is not taking any agency intermediation fees from the organizations listed below. For this reason, all of your money will go directly to support the NGOs and your stay in Afghanistan. This is also why you will find that the fees for the volunteering experiences, when requested, are generally much lower than usual.
