Before accepting an opportunity, confirm the expected activities, weekly hours, days off, accommodation, meals, exact location, transport arrangements and any fees or contributions directly with the host or organisation.
Some projects may provide accommodation, meals or other forms of hospitality in exchange for a limited number of hours of help. Conditions vary considerably, so do not assume that every opportunity includes free food and accommodation.
Voluntouring does not organise placements, select volunteers or mediate between volunteers and hosts. Older announcements may remain online for archival and informational purposes.
Visas and volunteering in Poland
Entry and residence requirements depend on your nationality, length of stay and the type of volunteering involved. Do not assume that visa-free or tourist entry automatically permits every form of volunteering or work exchange.
Poland has a specific temporary residence procedure for eligible third-country nationals participating in recognised voluntary programmes for stays of more than three months. Depending on the programme, requirements may include an agreement describing the voluntary activities, duration, supervision and working hours, together with evidence of accommodation, health insurance and sufficient financial means.
If you are travelling from outside the European Union or Schengen Area, check the current requirements through the official Polish immigration information for volunteers and the relevant Polish embassy or consulate before travelling.
Insurance and practical arrangements
Make sure your insurance covers the activities involved in the project. Standard travel policies may not automatically cover farming, construction, animal care, physical work or other volunteering activities.
Ask the host for clear information about accommodation, meals, transport, supervision and emergency arrangements. If a contribution or deposit is requested, confirm the exact amount, what it covers and whether it is refundable before making a payment.
