Volunteering opportunities in Panama – The Republic of Panama is a state in Central America, located in the narrowest part of the Islamic region. It is bordered by the Antilles Sea to the north, Colombia to the east, the Pacific Ocean to the south and Costa Rica to the west and northwest. It covers 75 517 km² and has a 2013 population of 3 661 868. The capital is Panama, a city of almost 900 000 inhabitants.

Panama is a presidential republic; the current head of state and government is Laurentino Cortizo. The official language is Spanish; in the provinces of Bocas del Toro and Colón, Wari Wari, people also speak a mixture of English and Spanish typical of Caribbean countries. Indigenous languages are spoken in the indigenous districts of Emberá-Wounaan, Kuna Yala and Ngöbe-Buglé.

Since Panama is a developing country, some organizations might ask you to pay a daily/monthly contribution to cover your stay.
