Vietnam Animal Aid (VAAR) is a US-based nonprofit (501(c)(3)) that’s been running a vegan microsanctuary and shelter near Hoi An since 2013. They rescue dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, and more, combining on-site care with mobile clinics and wildlife rescue efforts. VAAR focuses on mass sterilization, vaccination, and community education to tackle animal suffering at its roots—and they’re one of the only organizations in Vietnam actively promoting a fully vegan lifestyle and anti-speciesist values.
Behind the scenes, VAAR’s mission goes beyond shelter work: they run initiatives like the Phong Diên Wildlife Rescue project and support veterinary training across central Vietnam. Their philosophy is clear—caring for animals means living compassionately, and every part of their work reflects that commitment to all species.
