How to help Ukraine

save Ukraine

Photo by Mathias Reding (via Pexels) – More than three years into the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia, the conflict remains a defining issue for Europe and the world. The initial wave of global support – rallies, donations, and government aid – has evolved. Media coverage may have slowed, but the needs of Ukraine have not. The question, then, is not why we should help, but how we can continue to do so meaningfully in 2025.

Humanitarian assistance is a key dimension.

Millions of Ukrainians have been displaced. While some have begun returning home, many continue to live abroad or in temporary conditions. NGOS, charities, and grassroots organisations offer food, shelter, psychological support, and education. Individuals can contribute through trusted humanitarian platforms, host refugees, or support local initiatives aimed at rebuilding communities.

This type of aid, though less politicised, is vital for long-term recovery.

Economic support and reconstruction efforts are also critical.

As Ukraine’s infrastructure suffers under repeated attacks, investment in rebuilding schools, hospitals, roads, and energy systems takes centre stage. Here, international cooperation is essential. But it also raises complex questions about corruption, oversight, and the interests of large foreign companies potentially profiting from rebuilding contracts.

Supporting Ukraine in 2025 also means standing with its people culturally and socially. Promoting Ukrainian voices, art, and heritage can counter disinformation and promote solidarity.
