Assalam Community Foundation is a non-profit organisation in Kizimkazi village, in the south of Zanzibar. It works in education and community development, with projects for disadvantaged children, youth and women. Assalam Community School started in 2018 with two nursery classes and is growing towards primary school level. This listing described a past assistant teacher role for volunteers with good English and experience with children. Volunteers were expected to support local nursery teachers and help with English lessons. The minimum stay was three months, and the package included free meals and accommodation in a nearby resort, a flight for relocation, a volunteer visa and a small monthly contribution. Because the call mentioned a latest starting date around January 2020, the exact position is no longer current. Assalam Community Foundation is still active, so people interested in teaching or community work in Zanzibar should contact them directly to ask about new volunteer roles.
