Rahnaward-e-Noor is a private high school in Lal Wa Sarjangal district, Ghor province, Afghanistan.
The school has offered education to local pupils since 2011 and looks for international volunteers to support extra English classes. Volunteers prepare lessons using school textbooks and teach English in the afternoons to students, teachers and sometimes adults from the community. The school usually hosts one or two volunteers at a time. Expected help is around 4â5 hours per day, 5 days per week, with two days off. Accommodation and local Afghan food are provided free of charge in a private room, and the hosts can help with invitation letters for visas. Life in Lal is simple and the climate is extreme, with hot summers, cold winters and high altitude. Volunteers can hike in the surrounding hills and, when safe and possible, visit Band-e-Amir National Park or Bamiyan. Because of security changes, all conditions must be checked directly with the hosts.
