Yacht ⛵
Explore yacht volunteer opportunities and exchanges where living, helping or working aboard a yacht forms a genuine part of the experience. Roles may involve sailing, deck work, maintenance, hospitality, cooking, cleaning or other shared responsibilities on board.
Some opportunities are volunteer exchanges, while others may be shared-cost sailing arrangements, seasonal crew positions or paid maritime jobs. Check the individual conditions carefully before applying.
What is a yacht? ⛵
A yacht is generally a recreational or pleasure vessel that may be powered by sails, engines or both. Yacht projects can therefore overlap with sailing opportunities, but the terms are not identical. Not every sailing vessel is a yacht, and not every yacht is primarily a sailing vessel.
Volunteering or working aboard a yacht
Tasks may include cleaning and maintaining the vessel, helping with ropes and sails, preparing meals, assisting guests or sharing everyday crew responsibilities. More technical roles may require sailing experience, maritime qualifications or previous work aboard boats.
Life aboard can involve limited personal space, changing weather, watches and irregular schedules. Ask about sleeping arrangements, drinking water, meals, bathrooms, shore access, safety equipment and what happens if weather or technical problems change the planned route.
