Explore STEM volunteer opportunities involving science, technology, engineering and mathematics in educational programmes, community projects and practical learning environments.
These experiences may include science workshops, coding activities, robotics, mathematics tutoring, educational experiments and other projects where volunteers contribute technical knowledge or help learners develop practical skills.
What is STEM? 🔬🤖
STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The term is commonly used in education to describe these related disciplines and approaches that connect scientific knowledge, problem-solving, experimentation and practical applications. STEM activities may combine several subjects, for example through robotics, environmental monitoring, programming or engineering challenges.
Volunteering in STEM education
Depending on the programme, volunteers may help prepare experiments, facilitate workshops, teach or tutor STEM subjects, assist local educators or support technical projects.
For example, a STEM education project in Romania involved science workshops, clubs and an engineering fair. Another programme in Southeast Asia advertised a STEM facilitator role for teenagers. Both announcements are historical, and current availability must be confirmed.
STEM volunteering is more specific than general education or construction work. Check that the actual responsibilities involve relevant teaching, technical activities, research or applied scientific skills.
