Explore robotics volunteering opportunities and educational projects involving robot building, programming, electronics and practical STEM activities. Schools, community organisations and technology centres may welcome volunteers to support robotics workshops, clubs or supervised learning activities.
This is currently a small historical archive. The listings may no longer be active, so check whether the organisation is still recruiting and whether robotics is actually part of the volunteer role.
What is robotics? 🤖
Robotics is a field of engineering and technology concerned with designing, building, programming and operating robots. It combines elements of mechanics, electronics, computer science and control systems. Educational robotics often uses small programmable machines to introduce students to coding, engineering and practical problem-solving.
Volunteering in robotics and STEM education
Depending on the project, volunteers may help prepare robotics workshops, assemble educational kits, introduce basic programming, demonstrate how sensors and motors work or assist teachers during practical activities.
Some positions require experience with robotics, electronics or programming, while others involve supporting qualified educators. Ask about the equipment available, the level of technical knowledge required and whether training is provided.
