Deforestation 🪓🌳
Explore volunteer projects related to deforestation, forest protection and the restoration of land where forest loss is a genuine part of the environmental issue being addressed.
Relevant opportunities may involve reforestation, tree care, forest restoration, conservation or other practical activities connected with preventing or responding to long-term forest loss.
What is deforestation? 🪓🌳
Deforestation is the long-term or permanent loss of forest when land is converted to another use or can no longer maintain forest cover. On Voluntouring, this tag should be used when preventing, responding to or restoring damage from forest loss is genuinely relevant to the project. Simply being located in a forest, practising gardening or using wood does not make a project a deforestation project.
Deforestation and reforestation
Reforestation is one possible response to forest loss, but the two terms are not interchangeable. Some projects may focus on planting and caring for trees, while others may work on forest protection, restoration, conservation or awareness. Check the individual listing to understand what volunteers actually do.
