Agriculture is a broad field. Projects may take place on farms, smallholdings, community growing initiatives, educational centres or rural development projects. Activities and working conditions vary considerably between hosts and seasons.
Possible volunteer activities
Depending on the project, volunteers may help with sowing, transplanting, harvesting, irrigation, crop maintenance, composting, preparing growing areas or other seasonal agricultural tasks.
Ask what experience is required and whether tools, machinery, animals or agricultural products are involved. Appropriate instruction, supervision and protective equipment should be provided for tasks that require them.
