How to use this page
Open the opportunity that interests you and read the full announcement carefully. Check the publication date, activity dates and any application deadline before contacting the host.
To apply or request more information, look for the contact details at the end of the listing. Depending on the project, these may include an official website, email address, phone number or application form.
Before accepting an opportunity, confirm the expected activities, weekly hours, days off, accommodation, meals, exact location, transport arrangements and any fees or contributions directly with the host or organisation.
Some projects may provide accommodation, meals or other forms of hospitality in exchange for a limited number of hours of help. Other opportunities may have different arrangements, so do not assume that every project includes free food and accommodation.
Voluntouring does not organise placements, select volunteers, arrange visas or mediate between volunteers and hosts. Older announcements may remain online for archival and informational purposes.
European volunteering programmes and pocket money
Some structured volunteering programmes in France may include accommodation, food, insurance, travel support or pocket money, depending on the project and eligibility conditions.
Pocket money is generally a modest allowance for personal expenses within a structured programme and should not be confused with a salary.
Visas and volunteering in France
Entry and residence requirements depend on your nationality, length of stay, host type and the nature of the activities. Do not assume that visa-free entry or a short-stay Schengen visa automatically permits every type of volunteering or work exchange.
France has specific visa arrangements for certain forms of recognised volunteering, including civic service, association-based voluntary activities and European volunteering programmes. The appropriate procedure depends on the type and duration of the activity.
Informal hospitality exchanges, farm stays and activities with private or commercial hosts should be considered separately. Receiving accommodation or meals instead of wages does not automatically mean that an activity is legally classified as volunteering.
Before travelling, check your individual situation through the official France-Visas information for volunteering and use the France-Visas eligibility tool to identify the documentation that applies to you.
Insurance and practical arrangements
Make sure your insurance covers the activities involved in the project. Farming, construction, animal care, outdoor work and other practical activities may not automatically be covered by every standard travel policy.
If a contribution or deposit is requested, ask for the exact amount, what it covers and whether it is refundable before making any payment.
For additional general guidance, read Voluntouring’s information about safety and legality in volunteering and work exchanges.
Important: project availability, accommodation arrangements, immigration requirements and insurance conditions can change. Confirm current information directly with the host and consult relevant official sources before making travel or financial commitments.
