Explore volunteering opportunities in Turkey (Türkiye), including work exchanges, organic farms, community initiatives, hospitality projects and other independent volunteering experiences.
Projects may be located in Istanbul, other cities, coastal areas or rural regions across the country. Some opportunities may be seasonal, archived or no longer active, so always check the publication date and confirm current availability directly with the host or organisation.
How to use this page
Open the opportunity that interests you and read the full announcement carefully. Check the publication date, activity dates and any application deadline before contacting the host.
To apply or request more information, look for the contact details at the end of the listing. Depending on the project, these may include an official website, email address or application form.
Before accepting an opportunity, confirm the expected activities, weekly hours, days off, accommodation, meals, exact location, transport arrangements and any fees or contributions directly with the host or organisation.
Some projects may provide accommodation, meals or other forms of hospitality in exchange for a limited number of hours of help. Conditions vary between hosts, so do not assume that every opportunity includes free food and accommodation.
Voluntouring does not organise placements, select volunteers or mediate between volunteers and hosts. Older announcements may remain online for archival and informational purposes.
Visas and volunteering in Turkey
Entry and visa requirements depend on your nationality, length of stay and purpose of travel. Do not assume that visa-free entry or an e-Visa automatically permits every type of volunteering or work exchange.
The Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that the Turkish e-Visa is valid only when the purpose of travel is tourism or commerce. Other purposes may require a different visa obtained through a Turkish embassy or consulate.
Because volunteering arrangements can vary from informal cultural exchanges to activities that may be treated as work, confirm which immigration rules apply to your specific project before travelling. Activities considered employment are subject to separate work visa and work permit requirements.
Check the latest information through the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Foreign Affairs visa information and, if necessary, contact the relevant Turkish embassy or consulate.
Regional travel conditions
Important: travel conditions vary across Turkey. At the time of this review, the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office advises against all travel within 10 km of the Turkey-Syria border due to the continuing conflict in Syria and a heightened risk of terrorism.
If a project is located in south-eastern Turkey, near an international border or in another area subject to specific travel advice, confirm its exact location and check current information from your own government before making plans.

Insurance and practical arrangements
Make sure your insurance covers the activities involved in the project. Farming, construction, animal care, outdoor work and other practical activities may not automatically be covered by every standard travel policy.
Travel against official government advice may also affect insurance coverage. Check the conditions of your policy directly with your insurer when necessary.
If a host requests a contribution or deposit, ask for the exact amount, what it covers and whether it is refundable before making any payment.
For additional general guidance, read Voluntouring’s information about safety and legality in volunteering and work exchanges.
