Ghana 🇬🇭
Explore volunteering opportunities in Ghana, including community projects, non-profit organisations, education, healthcare initiatives, eco-farms and other independent or structured volunteering experiences.
Some listings may be seasonal, archival or no longer active. Always check the publication date and confirm current availability directly with the host or organisation before making travel plans.
How to use this page
Open the opportunity that interests you and read the complete announcement. Look for the contact details at the end of the listing to find the organisation’s website, email address or application procedure.
Before accepting an opportunity, confirm the activities, weekly hours, supervision, accommodation, meals, project dates and any fees or contributions directly with the host. If a participant fee or contribution is requested, ask for the exact amount, what it covers and the applicable payment or refund conditions before making a commitment.
Projects involving healthcare, children or vulnerable people may require appropriate qualifications, safeguarding procedures and professional supervision. Confirm your role carefully before applying.
Voluntouring does not organise placements, select volunteers, arrange visas or mediate between volunteers and host organisations. It does not process participant payments between volunteers and hosts. Publication on Voluntouring.org does not in itself constitute verification, endorsement or a recommendation of an organisation or programme. Older announcements may remain online for archival and informational purposes.
Visas and entry requirements
Entry requirements depend on your nationality and the purpose and length of your stay. Ghana’s official visa guidance includes volunteering as a recognised purpose of travel and may require supporting documentation from the host or volunteer organisation.
Do not assume that a tourist entry arrangement automatically covers your intended activities. Check the current requirements with the Ghana Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the Ghanaian embassy or high commission responsible for your country of residence.
Travellers aged over nine months entering or transiting Ghana are also required to meet Ghana’s yellow fever vaccination requirements and carry the appropriate certificate.
Current travel considerations
Conditions vary across the country. Current travel advice recommends particular caution in some northern areas and advises against all but essential travel to Bawku Municipality in the Upper East Region. Check the exact location of the project and consult current travel advice for Ghana before departure.
