An intercultural volunteer exchange in Morelia, Mexico. Share your countryโs culture in English at PREFECO, a prestigious high school in Mexico, while you learn about Mexican culture. The 17th edition of this intercultural program is expected to run from August 17th, 2026 to December 3rd, 2026. The school is selecting four volunteers from different countries. No participation fees.

Four-month commitment: August 17th, 2026 – December 3rd, 2026.
Seeking global volunteers
Country of origin: anywhere in the world, including Asia, Africa, Europe, South America, Australia and New Zealand, Canada, and the United States. Applicants must be over 22 and have a clean criminal record.
Other requirements
- Bachelorโs degree required, or currently enrolled in the final years of university studies.
- Required spoken language: advanced English, ideally C1 level, with B2 as the minimum.
- No Spanish required. If you speak a bit of Spanish or are fluent in Spanish, you can apply anyway.
- Preferred profiles: intercultural studies, culture, international relations, education, global competences, tourism, languages, linguistics, history, literature, art, communications, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, volunteering, diversity, human rights, social sciences, and similar fields.

Benefits: what the school provides
The school provides almost everything upon arrival in Mexico, except for international flights and medical insurance. This includes airport pickup, pocket money, free quality accommodation in a private room with a Mexican family, three meals a day, two school trips, cultural participation, and more.

Note about the volunteer work and other expectations ๐
Volunteers offer their contribution unwaged, but they receive many practical benefits in return, including accommodation, meals, pocket money, airport pickup, school trips, local support, and the chance to take part in a structured intercultural program.
Volunteers will be part of the International Department of Preparatoria Federal por Cooperaciรณn Melchor Ocampo. They will share their countryโs culture in English with high school students from Monday to Friday.
Volunteers will be guided and supported by local staff while assisting in Foreign Culture Class. Usually, volunteers prepare two to three 50-minute class sessions per week, which are then repeated in different classrooms.
You are expected to cover around fourteen to twenty 50-minute Foreign Culture Class sessions a week, plus preparation and office work where you may prepare classes, mark homework, create examinations, and grade students.
Class topics may include your own countryโs traditions, culture, society, education, tourism, music, history, sports, literature, food, art, science, and other themes. Classes are guided by the school team, but volunteers are encouraged to enrich the sessions with their own ideas.
All of this takes place in a friendly, respectful, and tolerant environment.

Three meals a day are included. Volunteers stay with Mexican host families and can enjoy Mexican food and everyday local life.

There are absolutely no participation fees. The program provides accommodation, meals, pocket money, airport pickup, cultural participation, and school trips. Volunteers are responsible only for their international flights and medical insurance.
