Dream Africa Child Support Centre is an NGO in Ho, in the Volta Region of Ghana.
The centre supports vulnerable children from poor families and teenage mothers, including orphans and children who might otherwise spend the day on the streets. Volunteers help staff with early childhood education and care. Typical tasks include teaching simple English, songs, nursery rhymes and games, helping with art and drawing, feeding the children at lunchtime and assisting with basic care such as washing clothes and cleaning utensils. Volunteers usually help 4â5 hours per day, 5 days per week, and stay in shared rooms or a coupleâs room with two local vegetarian meals provided. The organization asks for a daily fee of about 15 euros to cover food, accommodation and project costs, so this is not a free work exchange. Dream Africa can help with invitation letters and offers airport pick up and some local cultural activities.
