Samaritan Volunteer project – We are a charity organisation situated in southern Dar es salaam. It’s one hour by bus from the city centre. In most local families in our community, there are many children and youth who have no motivation with education even their parent they are not motivated to take them to school, therefore you will see many children in the street losing the opportunity of getting an education.

Since we started this program we saw a lot of changes and the children are motivated to come and learn from our school. At our organisation, we run a nursery school and education centre
where we help these children to have better early education as we believe that a child’s future success and advancement in life is greatly influenced by their early educational experience as those who have to go to school early develop an interest in education more than those who have not participated in early learning education.

The people in our village are very friendly and welcoming, while you’re here you will feel the spirit of Tanzanian people in our village since they are very passionate to welcome people from abroad.

What’s the mission of your community?

Our village is very unique and the people here are very kind. Our volunteers will benefit from learning our traditional way of life. We have many activities practised in our community like dancing local drums, making local dresses, making hair locally, participating in local weddings, locals games and many others.

Our volunteers will engage with the local people and learn our language Swahili and also they will communicate with the local people.

Note about the volunteer work and other expectations

We need volunteers who will help to teach children basic mathematics, English language, science, vocational skills reading, writing and sport. Volunteers will be assisting our local teachers to teach the children.

We also need volunteers who can help to teach children and youth music lesson since we have a new piano and guitar where the children and youth learn how to play these instruments.

In addition, you can support us on:

• running our social media platforms

Volunteers can also help to bring school materials for children like writing books, pencils, colours and other school materials.

Our volunteer will be saved three meals per day mostly cooked local food, we have a different kind of local dishes like Ugali, Wali, Potatoes, Cooked banana and many others. Our volunteers will taste all this kind of food.

How to get to your site

From the airport to our organisation you can use tax or uber which are available all the time. From our village to the city centre is only one bus and very inexpensive allow you to reach the city centre easy. To go to the beach is one hour and a half by bus and half an hour by taxi or uber.
