. Participants can join archaeology camps—surveying and mapping sites across 184 prehistoric to Byzantine locations—stay at the restored KISS Center, and engage in social, environmental, and creative projects tailored by local needs.
Kalat is also active in European youth mobility programs, hosting EVS (European Voluntary Service) volunteers through its KYC (Kalat Youth Center) Erasmus+ project. International volunteers help manage the KISS facilities—guesthouse, exhibition hall, documentation center, classrooms—support youth activities, cultural tourism, and heritage programming, fostering intercultural dialogue and community empowerment.
In recent years, Kalat has shifted beyond archaeology to embrace eco-tourism, food and wine initiatives, urban art, and workshops under EU-funded strategic partnerships. The project promotes sustainable development, local entrepreneurship, and youth capacity building, aiming to connect Sicily’s cultural roots with global audiences and empower local communities .
