Wild camping generally means spending the night outside established or fully serviced campsites, often in remote or natural surroundings. It may also be called backcountry, dispersed or wilderness camping. The term is used differently between countries and projects, so check the actual sleeping arrangements and facilities described by each host.
Volunteering with simple outdoor accommodation
Projects may involve trail work, conservation, festivals, expeditions, remote community activities or maintaining simple outdoor camps. Volunteers may need to bring their own tent, sleeping bag, waterproof clothing or other camping equipment.
Ask what facilities are available for drinking water, cooking, toilets, washing, charging devices and storing food. Remote stays can also involve difficult weather, limited phone coverage and longer distances from shops or medical services.
