What is park volunteering? 🌳
Park volunteering involves practical or public-facing activities that contribute directly to the operation, maintenance or stewardship of a park. This may include trail work, gardening, habitat restoration, visitor information, heritage interpretation, clean-ups or support for park staff and community organisations.
Volunteering in parks
Tasks may include clearing or maintaining paths, caring for planted areas, removing litter, supporting visitors, maintaining facilities or helping with conservation and educational activities. Some roles are occasional volunteer days, while others involve longer placements.
If tools, wildlife, difficult terrain or physically demanding outdoor work are involved, ask about training, supervision, protective equipment and insurance before participating.
