What is a summer volunteer project? ☀️🌿
A summer volunteer project is an initiative that welcomes volunteers for activities specifically organised or scheduled during the summer season. It may be a short-term group project, a seasonal community exchange or an individual placement. Unlike a summer camp, it does not necessarily involve an organised recreational programme. Unlike a summer job, it does not necessarily provide a salary.
What can summer volunteering involve?
Depending on the host, volunteers may help prepare festivals, maintain gardens, assist community initiatives, support educational activities or contribute to outdoor building and renovation projects. Some opportunities involve group living, while others offer individual accommodation or more independent arrangements.
Summer seasons and recruitment periods vary between countries and hemispheres. A project may also operate outside the summer months, so check whether the advertised activities are specifically seasonal or part of an ongoing programme.
