Stand-up paddleboarding, often called SUP, involves travelling across the water on a board while using a paddle, usually standing or kneeling. On this archive, paddleboarding may be a recreational benefit, lesson or organised activity connected with the volunteer stay. It is not necessarily part of the work performed for the host.
Paddleboarding during a volunteer stay
Check whether equipment is actually provided, whether its use is free or carries an additional cost and whether beginners can participate. Some hosts may offer boards independently, while others may arrange supervised trips or lessons.
Water conditions and local rules vary. Ask about swimming ability, supervision, safety equipment, weather and any restrictions before going out, and make sure your insurance covers the activities you intend to do.
