What is an Organic Farm?
An Organic farm is often a small family business that adheres to an ethical lifestyle choice:
- respecting seasonal cycles to obtain more genuine products with greater nutritional qualities,
- respecting the environment and the natural fertility of the soil
- breeding animals outdoors, feeding them with local forage,
- building up adequate stables, for a healthy shelter of the animal in the winter season or during cold nights.
- Respecting the natural growth and development of the animal without administering drugs or hormones to increase growth or milk production.
An organic farm does not use chemical pesticides, additives, and GMOs
they also minimize the impact of man on the environment by respecting the biodiversity of natural resources and the welfare of farmed animals.
Educational activities.
Organic farms often organize educational activities for families or schools where children can learn more about nature, animals, products. In particular, each project intends to raise awareness towards respect for the environment in which they live.
Each farm offers specific educational activities to learn the skills of a farmer such as:
- milking the cows,
- feeding the animals,
- preparing cheese or
- cultivating the garden.
In some places, buying the products of the same farm directly is possible.
