Explore volunteer and work exchangeA work exchange is an arrangement in which a traveller contributes an agreed amount of help to a host in return for benefits such as accommodation, meals or learning opportunities. Conditions vary by host. opportunities for one volunteer at a time. These hosts have indicated that they can accommodate a single volunteer rather than several participants simultaneously.
This can be useful for travellers who prefer a more individual exchange or need to know whether a project can accept friends, couples or groups before applying.
What does one volunteer at a time mean? 👤
It means that the host normally has capacity for one participating volunteer at any given time. This is different from simply having one vacancy available at the moment. It also does not automatically mean that a couple or travelling companion can stay, so check the individual listing if you plan to travel with someone else.
What to check before applying
Being the only volunteer can mean spending more time directly with the host or working independently rather than alongside other international participants. Ask who else lives or works at the project, what supervision is available and how much of the day is normally spent alone.
How to use this page
Check the publication date and confirm that the host still accepts only one volunteer at a time. Capacity can change as accommodation, staffing or project needs change. Also confirm the activities, weekly hours, days off, accommodation, meals, minimum stay and any fees or other conditions.
