Tag: Off-grid living
The term off-grid or off-the-grid refers to not being connected to the main or national electric grid.
In electricity, O.-G. can mean an autonomous system that provides a smaller community with electricity. An O.-G. electrification is an approach to access electricity used in countries and areas with little access to electricity, due to dispersed or distant population. It can be any type of electricity generation.
The term also refers to living in a self-sufficient way without relating to one or more public utilities. The grid houses are autonomous; they do not rely on municipal water supply, sewers, natural gas, electric grills or similar services. A true O.G. home is able to operate completely independently of all traditional public services.
The idea was recently released by some celebrities including Ed Begley Jr. who will be in Living with Ed television show on the Home Garden television network.
