Explore literature volunteer opportunities connected with books, literary heritage, reading programmes, literary events and organisations where literature has a meaningful role.
Opportunities may include literary museums, festivals, community reading initiatives, cultural centres, publishing-related projects or programmes involving writers, authors and literary collections.
What is literature? 📖
Literature broadly refers to written works valued for their creative, cultural or intellectual expression. It can include novels, short stories, poetry, drama, essays and other forms of literary writing, as well as the study and preservation of literary works and authors.
Literature, writing and libraries
Literature overlaps with several other types of opportunity but is not identical to them. Projects primarily looking for people to produce articles, newsletters or website copy are better represented by Writing & editing. Roles focused on cataloguing, shelving or operating a library belong more directly in the Library archive.
Literary museums and cultural organisations may also appear under Museum when the venue itself is relevant to the opportunity.
