Nepal 🇳🇵
Explore volunteering opportunities in Nepal, including education projects, community initiatives, eco-villages, farms, non-profit organisations and other independent or structured experiences.
The archive may include different types of opportunities. Some may be fair exchanges with no mandatory participant fee, while others may request a contribution or programme fee, and occasional paid roles may also appear. Always check the individual listing to understand the conditions being offered.
How to use this page
Open the opportunity that interests you and read the complete announcement. Check the publication date and look for the contact details at the end of the listing to find the host’s website, email address or application procedure.
Before applying, confirm the activities, weekly hours, days off, supervision, accommodation, meals, minimum stay and any fees, allowances or other financial arrangements directly with the host.
If a participant fee or contribution is required, ask for the exact amount, what it covers and the applicable payment or refund conditions before making a commitment.
Voluntouring does not organise placements, select volunteers, arrange visas or mediate between volunteers and hosts. Publication on Voluntouring.org does not in itself constitute verification, endorsement or a recommendation of an organisation or programme. Older announcements may remain online for archival and informational purposes.
Visas and volunteering in Nepal
Nepal has its own immigration rules for foreign visitors and workers. The Nepal Department of Immigration states that foreigners staying on a Tourist Visa are not permitted to work, with or without remuneration, for an industry, business or organisation.
Structured activities with an organisation, NGO, school or employer may therefore require a different immigration or work arrangement. Requirements can depend on the organisation and the nature of the activities, so ask the host which status applies and verify it independently with the Nepal Department of Immigration.
Practical considerations
Some projects in Nepal are located in rural or mountainous areas where transport, medical assistance and communications can be limited. If your stay involves trekking or activities at altitude, check the necessary permits, local conditions and insurance coverage before travelling.
