A young riderโ€™s horse journey: Spain to France with Currito ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿด

Horse travel Spain to France - Grace (Graลพina) with her gray horse Currito by a lakeside railing in Spain during a long distance journey.

Grace, also known as Graลพina, set out across Spain with her horse Currito as a slow, open-ended journey built on trust, simplicity, and horsemanship.

She began in the south and moved north along quiet tracks, walking beside Currito, camping when needed, and relying on the kindness of small towns. After roughly 800 kilometers they reached Jaraรญz de la Vera, where she found Jose Luiseโ€™s ranch and a way of working with horses that resonated with her. What started as a pause became a longer stay focused on natural horsemanship and hands-on ranch life. She helped shape a volunteer exchange that involved restoring old stone houses, creating basic facilities, tending the land, and spending long hours around horses, turning everyday chores into lessons in patience and feel. The living was rustic and communal, with shared meals, lake swims, and plenty of Spanish to practice. Over time the project paused and the journey evolved into a semi-settled chapter further north.
