Are you looking for an animal shelter volunteer program in Greece this summer?
On the beautiful island of Andros ð, a dedicated shelter is calling for kind-hearted volunteers to assist with daily animal care and enjoy the peaceful rhythms of island life.
This opportunity was first shared in our Volunteer & hospitality exchange Facebook group and is open especially during May, with possible dates beyond. Volunteers will be part of a small, friendly team led by Sandy, who runs the Andros Animal Shelter with great care and devotion.
The shelter takes in abandoned and stray animals – mostly dogs – and offers them safety, food, care, and a chance at adoption. Volunteers help with feeding, cleaning, walking, and giving love and attention to the animals. In return, they experience the local community’s warmth, time in nature, and the fulfilment of making a difference.
To reach the shelter, volunteers can fly to Athens International Airport, then take a boat from Rafina port to Andros.
ðĄ Please note: This is an informal volunteer program. Hosts cannot issue visas or legal documents, so make sure you enter Greece under the correct travel conditions.
