Volunteering in Tanzania… for independent travellers!
Volunteering in Tanzania is a great opportunity for independent travelers to make an impact in areas that are still developing. There are different options available, some of which are free, providing food and accommodation in exchange for voluntary work. Others may require a daily or monthly contribution fee for the same.
It’s important to note that in many parts of Tanzania, volunteering cannot be considered as a free activity. If you’re looking to make a significant impact but only have a few weeks to spare, we recommend choosing opportunities that require a fee. This way, you’ll not only be able to contribute your skills but also financially, especially if you can only volunteer for a short period of time. This is generally more beneficial than conventional tourism in foreign-owned hotels or touristic villages.
Another option to consider is staying as a paying guest at an NGO. The website Voluntouring is not a touristic agency and does not charge any intermediary fees from the organizations listed on the site. Therefore, all of the money you pay will go directly to support the NGOs and your stay in Africa. As a result, the fees for volunteering experiences, when requested, are usually much lower than average.
