Stone building and safety
Working with stone can involve heavy lifting, hand tools, unstable materials, ladders, scaffolding and other construction hazards. Ask what training, protective equipment and supervision will be provided before taking part.
Volunteers should not undertake structural or other specialised work beyond their experience or qualifications. Load-bearing walls, foundations and other technical work should remain under appropriately skilled supervision and comply with applicable local building requirements.
Make sure your insurance covers construction, renovation and other physical activities included in the project.
