The practical volunteer activities may be completely unrelated to naturism and can include gardening, building, cleaning, hospitality or general help. What distinguishes these stays is the social or living environment rather than a particular type of work.
What is naturism? 🌿
Naturism is a lifestyle associated with non-sexual social nudity and respect for oneself, other people and the surrounding environment. People practise naturism in different ways, from occasional clothing-optional recreation to regular participation in naturist communities, clubs or spaces.
Consent, privacy and clothing-optional spaces
Before joining a naturist or clothing-optional project, ask whether nudity is optional, where it may occur and what rules apply in shared spaces. Volunteers should not feel pressured to undress, participate in intimate or touch-based activities, or accept situations that were not clearly explained before arrival.
Photography and video also require particular care in clothing-optional environments. Ask what the host’s privacy rules are and never assume that another person’s presence in a naturist setting implies consent to being photographed or recorded.
Local rules concerning public nudity vary between countries and locations, so check what applies outside private property or designated naturist areas.
