Animal care and farm safety
Working with goats and other livestock can involve physical work, uneven ground, fencing, heavy feed or hay, farm tools and direct contact with animals. Ask the host what training and supervision will be provided and what level of previous experience is expected.
Volunteers should not perform veterinary procedures, administer medication or undertake specialised animal-health tasks beyond their experience and qualifications. The welfare of the animals should remain the responsibility of appropriately experienced people.
If the opportunity involves a commercial farm or regular productive duties, also check whether the arrangement may be treated as work under local immigration or employment rules.
