Adobe is a traditional building material made primarily from earth and water, often combined with straw or other natural fibres. The mixture can be formed into bricks and dried naturally before being used for walls and other structures.
Natural building projects can use several different techniques. Adobe, earthbag, cob and earthship construction may appear in related projects, but they are distinct building methods and should not be treated as interchangeable.

Safety and supervision
Natural construction can involve heavy materials, tools, scaffolding, ladders and physically demanding work. Ask what training, protective equipment and supervision will be provided before taking part.
Volunteers should not undertake structural, electrical or other specialised work beyond their experience or qualifications. Technical work should be supervised by appropriately skilled people and comply with applicable local building and safety requirements.
Make sure your insurance covers construction and other practical activities included in the project.
