Current safety situation
Myanmar remains affected by armed conflict and an unpredictable security situation. Official travel advice currently advises against all travel to some parts of the country and against all but essential travel to other areas.
Military operations, air strikes, checkpoints, curfews, landmines and sudden travel restrictions can affect areas that previously received international visitors. Do not rely only on information provided by a host when deciding whether an area is safe.

Visas and volunteering
Foreign visitors generally require a visa to enter Myanmar. A tourist eVisa should not automatically be assumed to permit volunteering, unpaid work or an organised work exchange.
Visa and entry rules can change, particularly under the current political situation. If an organisation is genuinely able to host international volunteers, ask which immigration arrangement applies and verify it with the relevant Myanmar embassy or consulate before travelling.
