Volunteer at Hacienda Hughes Earthship Haven, a remote off-grid project high in the Colorado Rockies near Buena Vista.
Helpers join the owner to finish a hand-built Earthship and develop a small permaculture food forest. Tasks can include tiling a mosaic earth and moon, digging a septic tank, laying flagstone and pavers, building a BBQ and water-filtration system, gardening, cleaning and organising. Volunteers help around 4â5 hours per day, 5 days a week, in exchange for shared food, simple accommodation and plenty of mountain adventure. The host cannot help with visas, so only people with the right to enter the USA should apply.
