Teach English in China (archived listing, updated for 2026)
2026 update: this post was originally published in 2019 and contains an old vacancy example. The Jiaxing position, salary range, benefits, and requirements below may no longer be available or accurate. Please treat this as a reference for what to ask a recruiter, and verify everything in writing before you apply, pay anything, or travel.
In 2019, a recruiter promoted teaching roles in China for native English speakers, and sometimes for non-native speakers who met the basic requirements. The advertised salary range at the time was 17,000 to 23,000 RMB/month. In 2026, salaries and packages vary a lot by city, school type, workload, and visa eligibility. Always confirm the full offer in a signed contract.
What usually matters in 2026 (verify with the employer and your local Chinese consulate)

Sector note: the private tutoring market changed a lot after 2021 regulations. Some training centers closed or restructured. Always confirm the school’s license, your real employer entity, and that the job is compliant where you will work.
