Connect by Music is a Dutch non-profit organization founded in 2016, dedicated to supporting children and young adults in European refugee centers through music.
The organization established its first music school in early 2017 at the Kara Tepe refugee camp on the Greek island of Lesbos. Currently, it operates in various locations on Lesbos, providing music therapy sessions and lessons to approximately 500 individuals daily.
The program includes a structured curriculum comprising guitar and keyboard instruction, a “Connecting Singing Circle” focusing on women, and specialized music therapy for vulnerable groups, particularly unaccompanied minors. These initiatives aim to improve well-being, foster a sense of community, and aid in the recovery of neural networks affected by trauma.
Connect by Music collaborates closely with Greek professional teachers and organizations to ensure the sustainability and quality of its programs. The organization has also been recognized by the Greek Ministry of Migration for its contributions.
