Frauke Kess runs a small farm in Germany’s Black Forest, close to Baden-Baden, Freiburg, and Karlsruhe. She is looking for volunteers who are skilled, mindful, and joyful, with a minimum commitment of 12 months. The farm spans five hectares and is home to various animals, including horses, goats, chickens, bees, sheep, rabbits, and cats. Volunteers will be involved in animal care, feeding them, cleaning stables, and maintaining barns.
There is also a strong focus on gardening and permaculture, including mowing, weeding, seeding, harvesting, and food preservation. The farm is currently working on a biodiversity project to naturalize their pond. In addition, volunteers with skills in building, carpentry, painting, or landscaping can help with repairing fences, eco-construction, and furniture making.
