Experience Hong Kong like never before: Cultural Bootcamp 2025
Hong Kong Summer Bootcamp 2025 โ This April, a small group of travellers will trade the cityโs skyline for the quiet charm of Sai Kung and Ho Chung Village.๐ Here, in the middle of lush greenery and an old fishing community, they will become part of something bigger – preparing for a festival that has shaped lives for centuries.
When?
The Hong Kong Summer Bootcamp 2025 takes place from April 16, 2025 (Wednesday) to April 22, 2025 (Tuesday).
Each day will bring a new experience.
Mornings might start with a stroll through the Sai Kung Market, where locals share stories about their roots. Afternoons could be spent listening to elders, learning about a Hong Kong that once was, and sharing games that bring laughter across generations. As the week unfolds, hands will craft decorations, feet will move through festival crowds, and voices will join in the timeless rhythms of celebration.
One evening, in a quiet village corner, a film will flicker to life. โWinter Chantsโ will transport viewers into the rare Tai Ping Ching Chiu festival, a tradition that only happens once every ten years. Over shared food and conversation, the meaning of home, heritage, and resilience will take centre stage.
At the heart of it all is the Tin Hau Festival, a tribute to the goddess of the sea. It is a festival of colour and movement – boats gliding through the water, music filling the air, and people gathering to honour their past while stepping into the future. Volunteers will be there, as visitors and as part of the living tradition, soaking in the spirit of a place that refuses to be forgotten.
The nights will be spent in a bungalow surrounded by the stillness of Sai Kung Country Park.
Mornings will bring fresh air and a sense of connection – to nature, to community, to stories that are still being written.
For those who are curious, who are ready to listen, who want to experience a side of Hong Kong that most never see – this is the invitation. ๐
