Explore Viking festival volunteering and learn about helping at events inspired by Norse history, crafts and storytelling. Volunteer roles can involve practical event support rather than performing or taking part in historical demonstrations.
This small archive includes past announcements. An event featured here is not necessarily accepting volunteers today.
What is a Viking festival? 🛡️
A Viking festival is a modern event inspired by Viking Age history and culture. Programmes may include craft demonstrations, storytelling, reconstructed camps and historical performances. Living history presents aspects of past daily life through clothing, tools and practical demonstrations. Check the programme to understand the event’s particular focus.
Volunteering at Viking-themed events
Depending on the organiser, volunteers may help with setup and dismantling, admissions, visitor information, keeping the grounds tidy or supporting demonstration areas. Helping run an event is different from joining its reenactment team.
Ask whether your role requires previous experience, historical clothing or particular equipment. For activities involving tools, fire or staged combat, clarify training and supervision before agreeing to participate.
